Author Spotlight: Michele Barrow-Belisle!

Honestly, what can I say about this creative genius? Other than that she’s a creative genius… I mean, for realz bro, not only is she a talented writer (her books were friggin’ optioned to be made into MOVIES!) but she’s mad-skilled at sculpting. And making those super-realistic-looking baby dolls. But I’m here to talk about the books, because I’m a librarian, and books are what I do. Mostly, sorta.

But seriously, check out her sculptures too, because DANG.

Her debut book Fire and Ice is an Amazon bestseller, and for good reason. Say hello to a world filled with elves, fairies, and witches (oh my!), and also all that paranormal romance jazz. Rawr.

She’ll be at YA Fest, and just a heads up: she likes chocolate. So bring chocolate. And shower her with chocolate and weep over your unworthiness. Then again, that might weird her out, so maybe refrain from the second half. But hey, she might write something super-nice in your copies of her books if you give her chocolate. Just saying.

Fire and Ice

Adventure wasn’t something Lorelei Alundra was interested in. Gifted with two other-worldly talents for singing and healing, she’s always shied away from her gifts and the spotlight, preferring quiet anonymity, over attention and fame. But when she meets the enigmatic Adrius, with his dark and dangerous mystique and eyes that could see into her soul, her uneventful life becomes irrevocably altered.

Adrius turns up in every one of her classes and knows more about her than any newcomer should. Including the condition of her mother who is suffering from a mysterious illness. Accepting his offer to help leads her into a terrifying and thrilling world, where Elves are even hotter than Legolas, and Faeries.... are nothing like Tinkerbell. The two magical beings are fire and ice opposites. One Lorelei can’t help falling for, and the other she's compelled to be with.

Now she’s trapped, expected to prevent a war between witches and faeries, or forfeit her mother’s life. Nothing is what it seems. Not her family. Not the Fey. Not even Adrius, whose feelings for her balance precariously between desire and danger. Despite her better judgment, she can’t say away from him.
As secrets unravel and unsettling truths are revealed, Lorelei must fight to save much more than her mother’s life. One mistake could put the fate of his world, and her soul in jeopardy.

But hey, no pressure… right.

Bittersweet
To save the Faery world and her mother’s life, Lorelei sacrificed everything, and the dangerous bargain she made in Nevermore had lasting repercussions. Now safely back in her own world, Lorelei seems the same to her highschool friends and her supernatural boyfriend. Yet love across dimensions is complicated, especially when an invisible Veil between the two worlds—the only bridge that links the pair, is sealing, threatening to separate Lorelei and Adrius forever.

Determined to find a solution, Lorelei resorts to using her new found powers. But when her friends succumb to the same mysterious illness that nearly took her mother’s life, Lorelei can’t help but wonder if her own dark magic is responsible. Still, the nightmares from Nevermore continue their icy hold. Someone from Adrius’s past arrives, determined to destroy Lorelei’s world starting with those closest to her, and Lorelei is forced to choose between her family and friends and a love that was ill-fated from the start.

Freeze (a Faerie Song novella)
What happens when the hunter becomes the prey?

In a twisted game of following impossible clues to ceaseless dead-ends, The Shadow Faerie Zanthiel is forced to search for the girl he let go. Lorelei may be out of his life, but she’s never far from his mind with the prophecy pulling them to

gether. They both feel it, yet they both have reason to fight it. He might not be able to have her, but no force in this world, or any other will stop him from saving her. Time is running out, and Zanthiel has only a fraction of it left to find her, before those hunting her do.

But finding Lorelei could mean losing so much more. Past, present and future are about to collide. Vows are fractured. Friendships severed. And a truce among enemies revoked. Will the prophecy that binds them together be what breaks them in the end?
